Aspro Parks, one of the most important operators of parks and leisure centres in Europe, reinforces its commitment to sustainability and energy transformation with an important commitment to photovoltaic self-consumption. Aspro Parks has promoted the transition to a sustainable business model, capable of generating its own energy through efficient installations with a total capacity of more than 3.2 MW in five of its centres in Spain.
The energy crisis has precipitated the need to explore alternative solutions to ensure business viability. In this context, solar energy has become a great ally for companies due to its potential to generate clean energy at a stable and constant price through photovoltaic installations that can be easily adapted to unused or marginally used spaces, such as parking canopies.Aspro Parks has anticipated these energy needs and has opted for photovoltaic self-consumption at its facilities in Western Park and Aqualand El Arenal (Mallorca).
Aspro Parks against climate change
In this process, ASPRO Parks has had the backing of the SOLBAL II call for aid, which comes from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), aimed at developing photovoltaic energy projects in the Balearic Islands with the financial support of the European Union.
It also takes the initiative to adapt to the guidelines of the Climate Change Law approved by the Balearic Government, which includes ambitious decarbonisation targets for 2025.
Specifically, the 902kWp Western Park project has received a grant of 145,202 euros from the SOLBAL II programme and, thanks to this installation, a power of 1,280 MWh will be added, of which 652 MWh will be for the company’s own consumption, which represents 62% of the park’s total consumption. For its part, the Aqualand Arenal photovoltaic canopy project has also received a grant from the SOLBAL II programme worth 166,104 euros, and with its commissioning will add a further 1.080 MWp. This plant is expected to produce 1,500 MWh, of which 680 MWh will be for the park’s own consumption and will account for 63% of its total consumption.
